In practice we all do the same kind of works in the Bank even then there is always difference in how one Bank is doing a particular task and how some other Bank is doing the same task. It is not only at Bank level, even within the same Bank also there is difference in the way, same task is being performed by different Branches. The important factor which lies behind this difference is the subjectivity of the processes. As we move from subjectivity towards objectivity, the processes will start streamlining and becoming uniform.
Policies are meant to define, structure and streamline these processes of performing task so that who soever is doing, the same task will be performed in the same manner within the organisation. When we say in the same manner, it means, the same objectivity will be maintained across the Bank. Thus policies provides us the framework to streamline our task for organisation level uniformity and making it more and more structured.
Day by day more and more tasks are being taken care by Computers. The days are over when computers are only used to undertake computational oriented task. The way and the speed with which Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning is penetrating in our life, all tasks supposed to be done by human with their subjectivity are being performed by Computers. Cooperative Banks are no exceptions and cannot risk of ignoring the facts. Policies help us to reduce subjectivity and moving towards more and more objectivity in performing tasks by way of defining the processes of performing a particular task and making organisation operations more and more structured.
As the focus is to streamline the organisation level working at all levels, the number of polices will also go on increasing as we move from higher to bottom hierarchy within an organisation. At the top most level the policies may be aligned to the vision document of the organisation.
